Disclaimer

Everybody’s results are going to be different depending on their current level of experience and many other factors. Chances are you are already a handy person in general otherwise you probably wouldn’t have come across this website. Use common sense when starting your handyman business. Do not attempt large or dangerous jobs when first starting out. Do not attempt jobs that you are not confident that you could complete exceptionally. It is understandable that you will have to hone your skills but do not provide a disservice to customers who are genuinely looking to get a problem solved in their home by telling them you can handle a particular job that you clearly have no business doing.

The handyman trade will be full of opportunities to gain experience completing jobs that you have never attempted before. Use discretion and be fair to homeowners. Do not lie about your level of experience. If you are confident tackling a job that you have never done before, be up front with them and convince them of your confidence. Offer them a discount and you would be surprised how many times they will let you do something you have never done. Build trust with them and your business will grow.
